KUALA LUMPUR, 2.6.2021: TikTok is known for its short-form video format and is one of the most popular apps used by Generation Z.
The social networking service is currently in the phase of building a job site to help Gen Z look for jobs, according to Forbes.com. This new feature is still in the beta testing phase, so users will have to wait for official news before they can try it out.
However, it is highly anticipated that Gen Z job-seekers will be sending in video submissions instead of the traditional resume.
Various videos on career advice, job-search tips, and job interview tips already exist on the platform. The hashtag #careeradvice has already gained up to 80 million views per day since mid-February 2021.
This recruitment feature on TikTok is also expected to see companies producing short clips that highlight the company culture and employee perks to appeal to Gen Z.
Since the COVID-19 pandemic, these young adults have been faced with some difficult times, including a financial crisis and spending a year of their young lives under lockdown.
According to ypulse.com, Gen Z spends around 6 hours a day on their favourite social media platforms. Instagram comes in first with TikTok in second, and Facebook placing third. Compared to Baby Boomers and Millennials, Gen Z seeks a job that gives them meaning and a sense of purpose.
This move by TikTok to create a Gen Z-catered job site is undoubtedly a smart one. With this platform, Gen Z will have a much easier time searching for jobs that align with their goals and values.
