About Campus

The University of Xiamen was established in 1921 and has produced more than 300,000 undergraduates and graduates. The university aims to nurture students with dignity and wisdom, moulding them into young talents with a global outlook that can contribute to the progress of Malaysia, China, and Southeast Asia.​ Thus, the creation of XMUM has set a new standard in the areas of educational cooperation and exchange between China and Malaysia.

 

Over the past years, Xiamen University has accumulated extensive experience in the administration of its faculty and academic programmes. This is apparent from an outstanding achievement of the XMU students and faculty, having published over 110 research reports in international top journals such as ScienceNature and Cell.

 

Since then, the university has become a first-class institution with extensive international influence. With inter-university cooperative ties with over 240 institutions of higher education at home and abroad, Xiamen University has become a first-class university in China and is striving to reach its goal of becoming a top-tier university both at home and abroad.

 


Campus Information

The university offers 34 doctoral degrees in first-class disciplines, and 46 Master degrees in first-class disciplines. It offers 90 undergraduate programs, 279 graduate programs, and 187 PhD programs in total. Today, the university has a total enrolment of over 40,000 full-time students on campus, including 20,277 undergraduates, 16,562 master’s degree students, and 4,297 doctoral students.

 

Since its establishment, Xiamen University has produced more than 200,000 undergraduates and graduates for the country. Aside from that, over 60 academicians of the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS) and the Chinese Academy of Engineering (CAE) have studied at Xiamen University.


Accommodation

Each of the registered students who live in the campus residences is required to pay a deposit of RM500 (refundable) together with a one-semester rental upon check-in.

  • Twin sharing room (Block D) with en-suite bathroom RM340 per student per month 
  • Twin sharing room (Block LY) with en-suite bathroom RM390 per student per month
