UTM is a leading entrepreneurial research university in engineering, science and technology in Malaysia. Committed to excellence to science and technology, it has established a reputation as the biggest postgraduate research university through the innovation of the development of creative human capital and advancement technological innovation.
The university has 10 faculties offering undergraduate and postgraduate courses. They are: Faculty of Built Environment, Faculty of Civil Engineering, Faculty of Chemical & Natural Resources Engineering, Faculty of Electrical Engineering, Faculty of Mechanical Engineering, Faculty of Geoinformation Science & Engineering, Faculty of Computer Science & Information Systems, Faculty of Science, Faculty of Education, and Faculty of Management & Human Resources Development.
At present, there are about 17,500 full-time undergraduate students and 3,200 postgraduate students studying at UTM. Having produced around 200,000 technical graduates and qualified professionals over the years, UTM has earned its place as Malaysia’s Premier University in Engineering and Technology.
UTM has 2 campuses; one at the capital city of Malaysia, Kuala Lumpur, and the other in the southern city of Iskandar Malaysia, Johor Bahru.
UTM provides 10 residential colleges that can accommodate up to 14,774 students. There are two types of housing available for the students. One of which is the apartment type-room and the other is the townhouse with two rooms. Each housing unit is furnished with basic facilities such as furniture and refrigerator for the students’ convenience.
The rental rates for UTM hostels vary from MYR300.00 to MYR600.00 per month while the housing rental rates vary from MYR480.00 to MYR1,100.00 per month.
