The University of Nottingham is a vibrant university that gives an exemplary learning environment, research that changes the world and a worldwide reputation for excellence. When the university is about to celebrate its 20th anniversary, when the first British University built a campus in Malaysia. UNM has evolved both in terms of teaching and learning activities and its research activities since it was established. Having a SETARA 5 Star ranking makes the University one of the best learning and educational institution in Malaysia. UNM, the only Malaysian international university to hold a MyRA 5 Star rating for its research.
UNM has now expanded to a student population of about 5,000 on-campus students since its initial intake of 86 students, with an increasing population studying overseas but registered in Malaysia. The campus was built to mirror the characteristics of University Park in the UK, which is a picturesque place spanning 125 acres and overlooking green hills. It is now home to more than 5,000 students as a self-contained and self-sufficient neighborhood village within a garden setting. Exactly the same degrees as those in the UK are offered by the Malaysia campus and all the courses are taught in English.
The university provides a range of on-campus housing, all on a short walk distance away from learning facilities and amenities. In students village north (J Halls), a newer accommodation consisting of 6 residence halls is situated, while student village (I Halls) consists of 5 residence halls completed when purpose-built campus was first built.
Each hall has its own Wardens Hall (staff) and Tutors Hall (Postgraduate students) that will be able to take care of students safety and health. Using a student ID can give students access into their halls. A team of in-house security officers and outsourced guards provide security. The university also has over 300 campus-wide CCTV cameras. Students, residents and staff are allowed to enjoy the following facilities: swimming pools, indoor and outdoor sports facilities (football, hockey, rugby, cricket, basketball, squash, tennis, archery, and more), indoor gyms, outdoor gyms, jogging tracks around the main lake, campus-based outdoor amphitheaters.
