About Campus

Universiti Teknologi Petronas has a wide range of undergraduate and postgraduate programmes such as science and technology, undergraduate, engineering, and more industry-relevant degrees. Their goal is to have excellent graduates that can be excellent in leadership and communication abilities.​

 

​UTP made the list in the Times Higher Education World University Ranking and the QS World University in the year 2016 and 2017 ranking. ​It was the first and only university to be awarded a 6-star rating by the Malaysia Research Assessment for its research, development and commercialisation efforts, deemed to be one of the highest performance level by the Ministry of Higher Education Malaysia.


Campus Information

UTP has state-of-the-art teaching and research facilities for its students to get a sense of practical experience as well as lectures. Over the years, the university has gained a reputation in the field of research in oil & gas and energy sectors, leading to 6 research centres, 15 learning centres, with RM4 million research grant received.

 

The size of UTP’s campus is a 400-hectare area within the area of Bandar Seri Iskandar in the state of Perak, Malaysia. It is a wholly-owned subsidiary of PETRONAS, the national oil and gas company of Malaysia. With extensive research activities in collaboration with PETRONAS, the university has received numerous national and international recognition with these rankings:

  • Mineral & Mining Engineering – Top 50 (new entrant – ranked 42nd worldwide and ranked 1st in the nation)

Accommodation

UTP’s total hostel capacity is 5950 beds, including the existing USM building and a temporary hostel. UTP also has leased 4 additional buildings at Seri Iskandar Business Centre (SIBC) that can accommodate 680 students, bringing it to a total of 6630 beds.​
