About Campus

Universiti Putra Malaysia was first founded as an Agricultural School. Over the years, it has made a name for itself as a prominent research university and expanded its programmes to include fields of study in science and technology. The faculty is made up of 16 faculties, 16 centres, nine institutes, one school, and one academy. Today, more than 20,000 students have attended UPM with approximately 4,500 international students.


UPM is widely recognised for its efforts in agricultural research. Ranging from funding training schemes to providing the best facilities, their services are geared towards empowering graduates to develop their knowledge and skills to grow to be the professional researchers in their field. In line with its vision to make a meaningful contribution to agriculture, the university focuses on its goals to enhance the quality of graduates and stand as a university of excellence.


Campus Information

The main campus is located in the town of Serdang Bintulu, a coastal town in Borneo.


UPM is known as one of the best research universities in Malaysia. With an international reputation as a hub for agricultural research, UPM has succeeded in uniting students and staff from all over the world in its mission to enhance and disseminate information.



On-Campus Accommodation​


UPM has a total of 17 residential colleges for the accommodation of students. Each residential college provides a range of full and modern facilities to meet the needs of students. These include:

Off-campus accommodation around the UPM campus is within a radius of 1KM-10KM. There are various flats, serviced apartments, condominiums, and terrace houses. ​The average cost can vary from RM 500 – RM 2,000. ​
