About Campus

A group of scholars with extensive experience at local and international universities established City University Malaysia in April 1984. City University was then known as Petaling Jaya Community College (PJCC), which was registered with the Ministry of Higher Education under the Former Education Act of 1961. It was founded at a time when there was a growing recognition that complementing national educational efforts was important for the private sector.

Since then, more than 20 batches of students have been successfully moved by PJCC to more than 100 universities and colleges across the United States, with many Ivy League universities winning places. While several private higher education institutions have been established in Malaysia, the PJCC has been a leader in preparing students for transfer to American universities.

PJCC was purchased by the Selia Group in 1998 as part of the company’s effort to become a responsible corporate citizen. Four years later, it was elevated to ‘University College’ status and named City University College of Science and Technology. To meet the rising demand for higher education, City University College has developed its international education.

The University College was awarded ‘University’ status in 2016, equipped with a record of 36 years of excellence in education, to be recognized today as the CITY UNIVERSITY MALAYSIA.

Campus Information

It is situated at the heart of three cities with strong growth. At both the Petaling Jaya and Kota Damansara campuses, students enjoy new facilities and a high-speed urban lifestyle. In 1998, it was purchased by the Selia Group and rebranded as Unity College International (UCI). Later, the status of a university college was granted to City-U.
