Curriculum

Students learn to provide a safe, competent support to the community, particularly individuals in need. The curriculum equips students with core skills through subjects such as Interpersonal communication, Introduction to Community Support, Introduction to Indigenous World Views, and Community Service Learning, which ready them for professional roles in the industry.

Semester 1:

  • Interpersonal communication, receding and reporting
  • Utilizing technology
  • Introduction to Community Support
  • Introduction to Indigenous World Views
  • Community Service Learning

Semester 2:

  • Introduction to Disability Studies
  • Working with Older adults
  • Essential Life Skills
  • Counselling Theory
  • Understanding Addiction

Entry Requirements

International students are required to have the following qualifications:

  • A secondary school certificate or equivalent;
  • At least 19 years old (for mature applicants);
  • Has an Alberta Grade 12 English Language and Mathematics / Completion of the General Educational Development (GED) with a min. score of 450.

English Language Requirement for non-English speaking countries:

  • IELTS: Band 5.5 to 6.0;
  • CELPIP: Minimum band 6;
  • TOEFL: Minimum score of 78 (CBT), with a minimum score of 19 for each band.
